HISTORY OF THE NPN

In 2007, the National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services gathered four people who directed their own long term services and supports for the purpose of gaining their perspective on participant-directed program design. Gradually, the value of this input was recognized, and the group expanded to a few dozen people meeting monthly to share best practices and horror stories from their states in hopes of improving programs across the nation. Eventually, we realized the ever-expanding group could offer more as an independent organization, and in 2012, the National Participant Network was born as a non-profit, separating from its "Mother" organization. We do not feel this would have been possible without the support of the National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services, and owe them our sincere thanks.
